Unclutter your Life to Unclutter your Mind

On Sunday my Husband and I tackled the house, we found ourselves wondering around in the morning complaining how the house always felt messy no matter what we did, and for those that know me and have been to my house, they wouldn’t classify me as either a hoarder OR messy!

So we attacked the problem head on, sorting through drawers, cupboards, wardrobes, bookshelves and anywhere else we thought may have things we didn’t need.

We were ruthless, if it hadn’t been used in the last 6 months we turfed it, if it held no meaning we turfed it, if it wasn’t a book or DVD we loved or would be beneficial for us, out it went.

The further we went the more clear headed we felt.

I think, as our plans for our future become clearer, our minds become more focused and clear, and with this clarity came the need to purge all those things which don’t benefit us now or help towards our life plan.

Yes, situations change and life changes on a constant basis and we must adapt, but having direction, a purpose, is integral to moving forward and no longer treading water.

Our main goal is to get to Japan next year, we went this year and we loved it, and we would love to be able to get all the businesses running so well that we could go for a few months and really immerse ourselves in the country and work from over there. And the extreme cleaning of the house was another step in the direction to making that happen, getting back to minimal living, where we can just pick up and go.

Keeping things minimalistic and streamlined is not only good for business but good for the house, and my uncluttered house gives me an uncluttered mind.

What are your thoughts? what do you find helps you work towards your goals? 🙂
